Public Advisory – Check Halloween Candy (Surrey, B.C.)

Surrey Police Service (SPS) and the RCMP Surrey Provincial Operations Support Unit (SPOSU) are reminding the public to carefully inspect all Halloween candy after a report of possible tampering in Surrey’s Clayton Heights neighbourhood.

On November 1, 2025, shortly before 2:00 p.m., police were called by a concerned parent who discovered a metal staple inside a Reese buttercup chocolate collected during trick-or-treating. The children had been visiting homes in the 188 Street to 190 Street and 72 Avenue to 70 Avenue area.

Police are actively investigating and working to determine the source of the tampered candy. Authorities are emphasizing community awareness and encouraging parents to double-check all treats their children received during Halloween festivities.

“If you find anything suspicious or unsafe, please contact the Surrey Police Service’s non-emergency line at 604-599-0502,” said SPS officials.
