Correction Policy

Accuracy and accountability

GKM News aims to publish accurate, clearly sourced reporting and to correct material factual errors openly. A correction request is reviewed on its evidence and the published record. A disagreement with a story, an unfavourable result or a difference of opinion does not by itself establish that a factual error occurred.

How to report a possible error

Send the article link, the specific sentence or detail you believe is wrong, an explanation of the problem and any reliable supporting records or sources. Please include a safe way for an editor to contact you. Public documents and first-hand records are helpful; we may ask follow-up questions or seek comment before deciding what to change.

Email info@gkmmedia.com with “Correction request” in the subject line, or call +1 (604) 723-8027. If your concern involves a source’s safety or private information, say so in your message and an editor can discuss a suitable way to share it.

How requests are reviewed

An editor checks the disputed passage against the reporting notes and available evidence, and may contact the reporter, relevant sources or the person named in the story. We aim to acknowledge requests promptly. The time needed to reach a decision depends on the records and people involved, so we do not promise a fixed turnaround.

When we confirm a material error, we correct the story and add an editor’s note explaining the change. The note is placed with the affected report so readers can understand what changed. Minor spelling or formatting fixes that do not alter meaning may be made without a separate note.

Corrections, updates and retractions

A correction fixes information that was wrong when it was published. An update adds new information that became available later; when it materially changes a report, we identify the update and its timing. If serious errors leave a story unreliable and a correction cannot resolve the problem, GKM News may remove or retract it and explain the decision. A request to remove material is reviewed separately and is not an automatic substitute for correcting the record.
