In your message, include what happened, where and when it happened, why it matters to the community, and a way for an editor to reach you. Links to public records or first-hand sources help us assess a tip. Please make clear whether information is something you witnessed or heard from someone else.

Sending a tip does not guarantee publication or confidential treatment. If a source-safety concern affects how you can share information, contact the newsroom first so an editor can discuss a suitable approach. Do not send sensitive personal records unless an editor has arranged a secure way to receive them.
